A Somali Government Security Official has been seriously injured when a bomb planted under his car exploded on Monday, Reports Confirm.
Witnesses told Horseed Media that the car exploded near a hotel in KM4 Conjunction while the Official was driving.
Police and Security officials arrived at the scene minutes later and investigations are still under way.
The injured Official is named Ahmed Omar Mudane, who is the deputy Governor of Lower Shabelle region for security affairs.
No Group has yet claimed the responsibility of the bomb attack, but radical Islamist group al-Shabaab have been carrying out similar attacks in the city.
In December, a member of the Federal Parliament, Faisal Warsame, had been killed in a similar way after his car was also planted with a bomb and blasted in front of the Heavily guarded Presidential Compound.
Last week, the city was rocked with mortar shells which raised fear among the residents who had never experienced such attacks for the past two years.
This week, U.S. State of Department warned Americans to travel to Somalia for the second time less than in a year, saying that it’s not in a position to assist or effectively provide services to U.S. citizens in Somalia.
The Department also added that the terrorist groups are planning to carry out attacks where foreigners gather frequently, including airports, government buildings, and shopping areas.
