Somalia: Puntland President

Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, alongside with his ministers of Security and Education met senior U.S. officials led by the Assistant Secretary of state for the Bureau of African Affairs in the Ethiopian Capital, Addis Ababa.

At the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of cooperation between the two sides.

Discussions also focused on the regional security issues, including the current political and security developments in other parts of Somalia.

Reliable sources confirmed that the Puntland leader requested the U.S. officials to support his government in the combat against terrorism.

After the meeting, Puntland President Abdiweli Gaas accompanied by ministers of Security and Education jetted to Sana’a where he is expected to hold talks with the leaders of Yemen.

Meanwhile, Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday night and he is expected to meet Ethiopian officials and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.
