UN special envoy to Somalia Nicholas Kay has refused to apologise to the members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia over recent allegations.
Ambassador Kay said that some of the members are ‘’exchanging their votes for cash’’ in a No-confidence motion against Somalia Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh.
‘’ I don’t think there is anything to apologise for because my report reflects on concerns am aware of and many people,’’ he said in an interview with the BBC Somali service.
He called for the top government officials to seek for a ‘’long-lasting’’ solution on the current political disagreement.
Members of the Parliament angrily reacted back to the allegations, calling for the UN envoy to give an immediate apology, while others suggested to be ‘’sacked’’.
