Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed has accused the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud and close allies of tabling a no-confidence motion against his government, which he claims as an ”obstacle” to the country’s stability and vision.
The Premier was quoted as saying the no-confidence motion is not related to the government’s duties.
‘’ The motion has no relation to the performance of the government, it was based on displeasure of the President because of the transfer of a minister (close ally) to another portfolio,’’ he said.
His statements came after a third session of the country’s parliament ended in chaos following a division between the members on the top leaders friction.
‘’The MPs have, persistently, called on the President and the sponsors of the motion to consider the public’s interest and refrain from activities that may lead to disunity and political instability in our country. The calls of the parliamentarians and similar requests from the public and other stakeholders have been disregarded,’’ he added.
The dispute between the President and Prime Minister remains unresolved and the international community has expressed concern over the political turmoil.
However, the Prime Minister, further accused President Hassan Sheikh of going against a solution to the current crisis, rather preferring to ‘’create obstacles against the 2016 vision’’.
