Somalia: Attacks mar Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister visit to Mogadishu

At least three people including Politicians were killed in Mogadishu on Thursday as a delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Hamad visited the Somalia capital.

A member of the Somalia Federal Parliament was injured by gunmen while a former MP was killed while they were driving in the capital.

Somalia Militant group al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility of the attacks.

Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister led a senior Arab league delegation, which includes Mauritania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Ahmad Ould Teguedi and Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby, who paid a one day visit.

They met Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud and Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed along with the cabinet members, as the political wrangle between the top leaders of the Federal government still remain unsolved.

Both sides discussed on bilateral relations and cooperation on various levels and also ways of expanding areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries.
