Somalia PM urges nation to unite against ‘terrorists’
Somalia Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke has urged the nation to unite against terrorists and extremists, after a deadly attack on a hotel in Mogadishu carried out by militant group al-Shabaab.
Speaking in a press conference on Saturday, Mr Sharmarke said that the ‘’terrorists’’ who have been attacking business places need to be defeated at all costs.
‘’ We should unite as a nation on the war against terrorists who don’t our country to move forward… we will not let them to ruin our goals,’’ said Mr Sharmarke who send out his condolences to the families of the
Al Shabaab militants stormed Maka al-Mukarama hotel on Friday evening, killing 14 people including a diplomat and ministry consultant.
Somali security forces managed to regain the control of the hotel on Saturday morning, killing all the militants who launched the attack.
Though al-Shabaab was pushed out of key towns in South and Central Somalia, the group has been able to hit high-profile targets in Mogadishu’s heavily fortified areas, including the national courts, the UN compound, the Turkish embassy, and popular gathering places.
