Somalia: Puntland denies Somaliland claim of apologising over allegationsPuntland has denied a claim from the breakaway region of Somaliland that the semi-autonomous state leader had apologised over recent allegations.
Earlier on Saturday, while delivering his annual speech, Mr Silanyo insisted that Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali ‘’Gaas’’ contacted him and apologised on allegations made by Puntland officials, who had accused the separatists of supporting al-Shabaab militants in Galgala mountains.
Speaking in Garowe, Puntland’s minister of Information Abdiweli Hirsi Abdulle dismissed the claims from the Somaliland leader Ahmed Silanyo.
‘’ There is neither any contact nor apologies made by the Puntland President…. Those claims are baseless,’’ said Mr Indhoguran, who called for mutual respect.
Puntland and Somaliland have had territorial disputes over the Sool and Sanag regions in the past decade, in which some occasions troops from both entities clashed.
