Somalia MPs table motion against Kenya separation border wall
Members of the Somalia Federal Parliament have tabled a motion against Kenya’s on-going plans to build a separation border wall in the two countries’ long porous border.
Somalia Parliament is expected to debate on the building of the wall in the upcoming week, sources close to the Parliament Speakers have confirmed to Horseed Media.
According to Kenyan officials, the 440-mile wall will guarantee continued control of the border crossing by the security forces.
The MPs want to put pressure on Somalia’s government leaders to ensure that Kenya doesn’t interfere with the territories of Somalia.
Reports and images from satellite indicate that the building of the wall will reach Somalia’s territory.
Earlier this week, Somalia’s minister of Internal Security criticized Kenya’s decision to build a separation border wall, saying that it will not foil the attacks carried out by al-Shabaab militants.
Somalis living across the border believe that the move is aimed at ‘’isolating’’ them.
