New Somalia ambassador to Kenya presents credentials
The newly appointed Somalia ambassador Jamal Mohamed Hassan presented on Tuesday to Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, the credentials that accredits him as the Somalia ambassador to Kenya.
The ceremony took place in the Presidential Palace in Nairobi with the new ambassador wearing the famous Somali traditional clothes, attended by other senior government officials including Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Minister Amina Mohamed.
At the event, President Kenyatta also received the credentials from other several dignitaries now posted in Nairobi.
Mr Jamal replaces Mohamed Ali Nur ‘’Americo’’, the longest-serving ambassador to the East African nation.

In a similar mover, last week, Kenya’s new ambassador to Somalia presented his diplomatic papers to the Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud in Mogadishu.
However, it comes a time where the two countries are involved in a maritime dispute with Somalia filing a case against Kenya at the ICJ last month.
Despite the generally good relationship between Kenya and Somalia, there have been concerns that if these political tensions between the two countries are not resolved, they could escalate and culminate in a conflict.
