Somalia: At least one person killed in blast near Headquarters of National IntelligenceOne person has died in a bomb explosion outside a famous hotel close to the headquarters of the National Intelligence agency in Mogadishu, the latest in a wave of attacks in the capital.

A Police Spokesman says a car bomb exploded late on Friday evening outside the hotel, where senior security officials, including the Director of the National Intelligence and Security agency Bashir Gobe were meeting.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but security officials have immediately blamed Somali extremists who have carried similar attacks.

Last week, armed militants carried a deadly attack on the country’s parliament building, leaving at least 10 people dead including government soldiers.

Somalia’s chief of army also escaped a roadside bomb three days ago as he was driving in the capital.

Unknown gunmen assassinated a Turkish airline security official and motives behind his killing is still unclear and none of the assailants have been caught.

Dozens of government officials and security officers have been killed in a wave of attacks in the capital, mostly in bombs planted in their vehicles.
