TEEN JOB FAIR WILL CONNECT TEENS TO EMPLOYERS, JOBS, JOB HUNTING EXPERTISE

Teen Job Fair

Noon to 3 p.m.

Hennepin County Library – Minneapolis Central
300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis
WHO:
For ‘tweens and teens ages 12-19
MORE INFO:
Teens can meet employers and get information about job openings, apply for a job, sign up for job training, and find out about internships and volunteer opportunities.
In addition, there will be two workshops:

  1. At 1 p.m., “Who We Hire,” a panel of reps from Jimmy Johns, the Mall of America, and other businesses will discuss the do’s and don’ts of job applications and resumes, tips for acing an interview, and general insights from insiders who do the hiring.
  2. At 2 p.m., experts will offer job search tips.

WHY:
Hennepin County Board Chair Mike Opat: “The Hennepin County Library is not only an excellent year-round resource for adults seeking jobs. The Teen Job Fair last year connected more than 1,000 teens to prospective employers, making it a hugely successful initiative and one we are proud to provide again, especially in this difficult economy.”
Hennepin County Commissioner Peter McLaughlin: “The Teen Job Fair is a wonderful venue to connect prospective employers and talented teens in our community, and the library is an important ongoing resource to teens as they seek to gain job-hunting skills and work experience.”

Hennepin County Library is presenting the Teen Job Fair in collaboration with the City of Minneapolis Employment and Training Program, South Minneapolis WorkForce Center’s The Zone, and the Mall of America.
