SOMALIA: New Cabinet of Puntland unanimously approved by Parliament

Puntland’s Parliament has approved on Tuesday the newly 47-member cabinet appointed by the state’s President Dr Abdiweli Mohamed Ali.

The new cabinet which comprises of 18-ministers, 19-deputy ministers and 9-state ministers were introduced to the Parliament by the President, who addressed the Mps on the cabinet’s plans.

President Abdiweli said that his government will work on building institutions that will fight against corruption, as well bring back the unity of the nation.

‘’ The Government will focus on improving Economic, education and health sectors. Justice will always prevail’’

‘’In order to bring back unity among my people, we should regain the ‘occupied’ territories. We will transform Puntland to the democratic system’’, he told the Parliament.

After the members of Parliament carried out the vote of Confidence, Speaker Said Hassan Shire announced the results which 55 out of the 56 present Mps voted a  ‘’YES’’ or vote for confidence, yet the other one vote abstained.

President Abdiweli Gaas later on praised the move of the Mps for endorsing his nominees and promised to work on the development of the state.

The new cabinet is expected to take over office from the previous ministers in the upcoming days.
