Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has travelled on Sunday to Turkey to undergo a medical check-up after reports emerged concerning his health status.

The President’s Spokesperson Abdirahman Omar Osman dismissed reports published by the local media on the President’s situation, saying that ”there is nothing serious with the President’s health”.

‘’There is nothing serious with the President’s situation. He has been working massively for the past one and half year, staying in the office for so many hours’’

‘’Since a new cabinet has started to operate,  so he has got a chance to go and pass a medical checkup,’’ said the Spokesman in an Interview with the VOA Somali service.

During the President’s stay in Turkey, he will reunite with his family residing there and will be spending time with them, added Mr Yariisow.

Earlier on Sunday, some local stations in the country broadcasted news on the President’s health status, questioning his situation.

It was the first time the President went abroad for a medical checkup.

The President’s situation was also questioned after his journey was not informed to the media as it was usually being briefed to when he is travelling outside and arriving back to the country.
