Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali chaired the first meeting of his cabinet on Monday after it was approved by the Parliament last week.

During the meeting, cabinet members widely discussed on security issues and ways of implementing the government’s plans.

Puntland President Abdiwel Gaas who spoke to the Journalists after the meeting, said that his government has started to implement the ‘’changes’’ promised while he was campaigning for the Presidency, revealing that they already managed to pay the salaries of the government workers and Soldiers.

‘’ We have paid the January salaries of the Soldiers and government workers, they haven’t been paid for 14 months,’’ said the President.

Mr Ali added that his government will fight against corruption and misuse of state-owned assets.

‘’There are still missing Public assets such as Government vehicles, no one can misuse them. They should return it to their respective places,’’ he said.

Former government officials have been accused of snatching government-owned property during the election process.

In the past week, the new cabinet members had been taking over office from the Ex-ministers.
