Somali Militiamen who abducted two Kenyan Engineers from Mogadishu last month have now demanded ransom for their release.
The two Kenyans were kidnapped in the Somali Capital and are believed to have been transferred to Harardhere district, which is some 700-km north of Mogadishu.
Andrew Mwangura, who is the Secretary of Seafarers Union of Kenya, said in an interview with Xinhua news agency that the Militiamen have demanded 1-million- US dollar to free the hostages.
The Kenyan Engineers who are still unidentified were working for a local Construction Company before being abducted in Hodan district.
It’s not yet clear whether the militiamen have a link with the Somali pirates or just militia clans. But Andrew Mwangura claims that they are from Habargidir clan.
The number of Kenyan citizens held captive in Somalia is now six. Last week al-Shabab converted two Kenyan citizens to Muslim religion.
