Somali teenager to be one of the youngest in UK to receive doctorate. A Somali teenager Fahma Mohamed is set to become one of the youngest doctorate holders in UK, before even going to university. Fahma will be awarded an honorary degree by Bristol University to acknowledge her campaign to end female genital mutilation (FGM). She previously attended City Academy and will be starting university at kings’ college London this September, taking on an undergraduate degree in biomedical science.

The 19 years old will be given the doctorate this Friday at Bristol university graduation ceremony.
Fahma became famouse when she was just 14 years after she led a campaign to end FGM with charity intergrated Bristol nearly five years ago.
On 8TH march 2014 she fronted a national campaign to stop the abuse,with united nation secretary general Ban ki-moon who met her and directly praised her work and pledged to support her and the anti FGM campaign.
The former Weston college student who is finishing her gap year before joining university told Bristol post she was honored to receive the doctorate “I couldn’t believe it when the university told me,” she said. She is now looking forward to attend the ceremony which will be held at Wills Memorial Building this Friday.
