H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), has directed strengthening relief operations for drought-hit Somali people.

This came in a phone call made by Sheikh Hamdan with the ERC delegation currently in Somalia to carry out humanitarian programmes in the regions afflicted by Somalia’s worst drought crisis in a decade.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan was briefed by the head of the ERC delegation, Mohamed Khamis Al Kaabi, on the humanitarian situation in Somalia in general and on the details of the relief programme being implemented to provide the necessary needs of those affected by the drought.

Sheikh Hamdan said that the ERC’s support comes in continuation of the humanitarian and developmental efforts made under the guidance of the UAE wise leadership for the fraternal people of Somalia.

“UAE will spare no effort to meet the humanitarian needs in Somalia and improve the necessary services in all fields there,” he said.
