The strike targeted positions held by the Islamist militant group in the Middle Shabelle region, the ministry said in a statement.

Officials said the operation also destroyed military equipment, transport vehicles and a fuel tanker allegedly used by Al-Shabaab.

The Ministry of Defence described the airstrike as part of an ongoing campaign conducted in coordination with international partners to degrade the group’s operational capabilities and disrupt its activities.

The claims have not been independently verified, and Al-Shabaab has not immediately commented on the reported operation.
