Former commander of Somalia’s Custodial Corps, Mahad Abdirahman Aden, widely known as Taliye Shub, has sustained minor injuries after an airstrike targeted the house where he was staying in the town of Doolow, in the southern Gedo region.

The strike also reportedly killed and injured other people who were inside the house at the time. Preliminary reports indicate that an Ethiopian woman working at the residence was killed, while several others sustained injuries.
There has been no official confirmation of who carried out the airstrike or which aircraft was used in the attack.
The incident comes amid heightened political and security tensions in South West State, where Taliye Shub has previously been outspoken on political developments.
He had earlier said that South West State leader Adan Mohamed Nur, commonly known as Aadan Madoobe, would not be able to enter the regional capital, Baidoa.
Taliye Shub previously served as commander of Somalia’s Custodial Corps and has also played a prominent role in political and security affairs in South West State, particularly during the administration of former regional president Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed, known as Laftagareen, whose leadership was later brought to an end.
Further details about the circumstances and possible perpetrators of the airstrike have yet to be established.
