The cabinet specifically called upon international partners, including UN agencies and US-AID, to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians displaced by the military operations in the Bari region’s Al-Miskaad mountains.

The Puntland government issued an urgent appeal today for international assistance in its ongoing fight against ISIS and Al-Shabaab militants, while also seeking humanitarian aid for displaced civilians affected by the military operations.

During a cabinet meeting chaired by President Said Abdullahi Deni in Bosaso, government officials highlighted the recent successes of anti-terrorism operations in the Al Miskaad mountains of Bari region and Al Madow in Sanaag region, where terrorist groups have established hideouts.

The cabinet specifically called upon international partners, including UN agencies and US-AID, to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians displaced by the military operations in the Bari region’s Al-Miskaad mountains. As areas are being liberated from terrorist control, the government emphasized the urgent need for aid to support affected populations.

“Our forces have achieved significant victories in their counter-terrorism efforts,” a cabinet spokesperson stated. “Now we must ensure that civilians can safely return to their homes and rebuild their lives.”

The cabinet meeting also addressed urban development initiatives in Bosaso, announcing a collaboration between the local and central government to improve the city’s road infrastructure. Officials outlined plans to accelerate ongoing construction and maintenance projects across Puntland’s regions, aimed at enhancing both urban mobility and security.

This comprehensive approach reflects Puntland’s dual focus on combating terrorism while pursuing infrastructure development to improve living conditions for its citizens. The government’s appeal underscores the complex challenges facing the region as it works to maintain security while providing essential services to its population.
