Mogadishu — The commander of the Somali National Army, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, has met the United Kingdom’s Commander of Operations in Somalia, Col. Andy Seddon, for talks focused on strengthening defence cooperation and military ties between the two countries.
According to officials, the meeting centred on enhancing collaboration in defence and military operations, as Somalia continues efforts to improve its national security capabilities.
Brig. Gen. Mohamud highlighted the importance of building on the longstanding partnership between Somalia and the United Kingdom, calling for expanded cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Col. Seddon reiterated the UK government’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s efforts to strengthen security and stability. He also reaffirmed Britain’s support for developing the operational capabilities of the Somali National Army.
The meeting reflects ongoing defence engagement between Somalia and the United Kingdom, which has been a key international partner in supporting security sector reform and capacity-building initiatives in the Horn of Africa.
