The Federal Government of Somalia has issued its first public statement on the ongoing conflict in the Adhi-Adeeye area of the Sool region, where clashes between two local clans have resulted in casualties and injuries.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Somalia’s Minister of Interior, Ali Yusuf Ali, condemned the violence and expressed concern over the loss of civilian lives and the growing humanitarian impact of the conflict.
The minister called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities and urged all parties involved to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions further.
He appealed to the communities engaged in the conflict to prioritise peace, coexistence and social stability in order to prevent additional loss of life and further deterioration of the situation.
Mr Ali also emphasised the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and mutual understanding. He called on community intellectuals, traditional elders and local authorities to play an active role in restoring calm and supporting reconciliation efforts.
The conflict in Adhi-Adeeye has raised concerns over local stability in the Sool region, although authorities have not yet released an official casualty figure.
