Muscat, Oman — The Sultanate of Oman and Somalia recently engaged in high-level talks to explore investment opportunities aimed at boosting cooperation and enhancing food security in both nations.

The discussions, which centered on fostering mutual partnerships, were held between Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, and Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Abdi Ali.

The meeting, which took place in Muscat, covered a range of topics of shared interest, focusing particularly on strengthening cooperation in the agricultural and fisheries sectors. Both ministers agreed on the importance of exchanging expertise and knowledge, particularly in addressing challenges related to food security, an issue of growing concern for both countries.

“We are committed to expanding the scope of our partnership with Somalia,” Dr. Al Habsi said during the talks. “This collaboration will not only benefit our nations in terms of food security but will also create opportunities for sustainable agricultural development.”

The two sides also discussed potential avenues for investment in Somalia’s agricultural sector, which could lead to increased production and improved food security. Both countries recognize the critical need to collaborate on innovative solutions to mitigate food insecurity and foster long-term economic growth.

This meeting is part of a broader effort by both Oman and Somalia to strengthen bilateral ties and build a foundation for future cooperation in key sectors, with food security and sustainable development at the forefront.
