Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somalia Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA) and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) have signed a landmark agreement in Mogadishu. The agreement, signed by ICA’s Director-General, Mr. Mustaf Sheikh Ali Dhuxulow, and representatives of Interpol, aims to bolster efforts in combating organized crime, improving immigration security, and addressing human trafficking.
The partnership will focus on key areas such as the prevention of immigration-related crimes, the enhancement of travel security, and the strengthening of collaboration between ICA and Interpol. Additionally, the agreement will facilitate joint efforts in locating missing persons and tackling cross-border criminal activities.
During the signing ceremony, General Dhoore, the Commander of Interpol in Somalia, commended the progress achieved by ICA and highlighted the importance of this collaboration in addressing global security challenges. He emphasized that the partnership would play a crucial role in safeguarding Somalia’s borders and contributing to regional and international security.
Mr. Mustaf Sheikh Ali Dhuxulow, ICA’s Director-General, expressed his gratitude to Interpol for its support and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to combating human trafficking and immigration fraud. Following the signing, the Interpol delegation was given a tour of ICA’s Fraud Detection Unit (FDU), where they received a detailed briefing on the unit’s operations and achievements. The FDU, which specializes in detecting and preventing immigration-related fraud, has been instrumental in curbing illegal activities and ensuring the integrity of Somalia’s immigration system.
