Garowe, Somalia — The President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed cabinet members on April 2, marking a significant step in the administration’s governance agenda.
The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Garowe, where members of the new cabinet formally assumed office. The oath of office was administered by Justice Said Ahmed Farah of the Puntland Supreme Court.
The newly appointed ministers include Abdirashid Barkhad Warsame as Minister of Justice and Religious Affairs, Abdi Hirsi Ali Qarjab as Minister of Interior, Federalism and Democracy, and Yusuf Ahmed Mahmoud (Barre Fatah) as Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Relations. Aydaruus Ahmed Farah was named Minister of Environment, Pasture and Climate Change, while Farhan Ali Hirsi took on the role of Minister of Information and Communications.
Other key appointments include Abdifatah Ugaas Yasin as Minister of Aviation and Airports and Abdinasir Yusuf Haji Hirsi as Minister of Relief and Disaster Management.
Several deputy ministers were also sworn in during the ceremony. These include Abdirahman Yusuf Farah as Deputy Minister of Security and DDR, Eng Mohamed Ali Ismail as Deputy Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport, and Bille Mohamud Ahmed (Qabowsade) as Deputy Minister of Information and Communications. Hassan Jama Ismail was appointed Deputy Minister of Animal Husbandry, while Abdirashid Abdirisaq Ali assumed the role of Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources.
In addition, a number of state ministers were appointed to support various government portfolios. Among them are Abdirahman Mohamud Osman as State Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing, Mohamed Mohamud Osman (Arbac) as State Minister of Finance, and Mohamed Jama Abdirahman as State Minister for Planning, Economic Development and International Relations.
Other state ministers include Ali Mohamed Osman for Health, Eng Mohamed Ciise Lacle for Aviation and Airports, Mohamed Abdikafi Mohamed for Animal Husbandry, Najib Barkhad Warsame for Information and Communications, Mukhtar Ahmed Oday for Environment and Climate Change, and Ahmed Ibrahim Awaale (Biid) for Trade, Industry and Investment.
The formation and swearing-in of the new cabinet is expected to bolster Puntland’s administrative capacity as the government continues to address key political, economic, and social priorities.
