A senior Puntland military officer and two other soldiers were killed on Sunday after a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in the Al-Miskaad area, along the road connecting the port city of Bosaso and the town of Dhaadaar, security officials said.

The explosion, caused by a landmine planted along the route, targeted Puntland troops traveling through the area and triggered a security alert. Authorities confirmed that the blast resulted in multiple casualties, including injuries.

Among those killed was Mohamed Aduur, also known as Afdhishiike, the logistics commander, according to security sources. Two other soldiers traveling in the same vehicle also died in the attack. The deaths were described by military officials as a significant loss, noting that the officers were actively involved in ongoing security operations.

More than four soldiers were wounded in the explosion and were transported to hospitals in Bosaso for medical treatment. Officials said some of the injured remain in need of further care. In response, Puntland security forces tightened security measures along the affected road.

The attack comes as Puntland continues military operations against Islamic State militants hiding in the Al-miskaad Mountains. Security officials said efforts to counter armed groups would continue, with a focus on ensuring the safety of key roads, soldiers, and civilians.
