The Puntland House of Representatives has approved the newly appointed members of the regional cabinet, enabling them to formally assume their ministerial responsibilities.

During a parliamentary session attended by 58 lawmakers, members voted in favour of granting immunity to ministers recently appointed by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni.
According to the official results, 52 MPs supported the motion, four voted against it, while two abstained.
The newly appointed ministers had already been temporarily overseeing the ministries assigned to them pending formal approval.
The decision clears the way for the cabinet members to begin carrying out their duties in an official capacity.
However, the appointments have drawn criticism from some communities, which have expressed dissatisfaction over the process used to allocate ministerial positions.
