Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni met today in Bosaso with some of the elders, intellectuals, and leaders of different clans living in the Bari region.

The meeting focused on the security situation in the region and the fight against ISIS.

President Deni thanked the entire Puntland community, especially the Bari region, for their role in the fight against ISIS, and promised that he would not waste the blood of Puntland soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending the country, the people, and the Somali nation.

“The blood of Puntland’s martyrs will not be shed in an isolated place. May Allah have mercy on those who died and may Allah bless those who were injured,” said Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni.

Deni, who recognized that there had been a security lapse in Puntland, promised that during his term in office he would not allow anyone to compromise the security and order of Puntland, and he issued a warning to anyone who would try to do so again.

“While I am in office, God willing, I promise that there will be no further neglect. I will not tolerate insecurity, no matter who it may be, near or far,” said Abdullahi Deni.

The Puntland president praised the Federal Government Forces, those in Hirshabelle and the local people who are fighting against Al-Shabaab, saying, “We hope that the Federal Government Forces, the Hirshabelle Government Forces and the local people of Hirshabelle will be victorious against the terrorists.”
