Somalia: Puntland President Appoints Military Leadership and Higher Education Committee

Garowe, Puntland – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has issued a presidential decree appointing new leadership for the Presidential Security Force as well as a Higher Education Committee, in a move aimed at strengthening security and advancing the education sector.

Under the decree, Lieutenant General Said Nur Shire has been appointed as Commander of the Puntland Presidential Security Force. Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Mohamed Ali Ahmed (Marduuf), who previously served as commander of the Nugaal regional police force, has been named Deputy Commander of the same unit.

In a separate but related decision, President Deni also established a seven-member Higher Education Committee. The body will be chaired by Dr. Mohamud Abdirahman Mohamud (Hoorri), a respected academic figure.

  6. Dr. Aden Abdiqadir Mohamed – Member
  7. Dr. Said Ahmed Ali Maax – Member

The appointments are seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Puntland administration to reinforce institutional capacity in both the security and education sectors.
