Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, met with Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda. The meeting was held during President Dr. Mohamud’s visit to Uganda.
According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the discussions covered several issues, most notably the bilateral relations between the two countries and the security situation in the region.
Both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and welcomed the launch of the new AUSSOM mission in Somalia.
They underscored the need to accelerate international support for implementing Somalia’s Security Development Plan and for enhancing the capacity of the Somali National Army. They also discussed the defence cooperation agreement signed between the two countries and directed the relevant institutions to expedite its implementation.
