Somalia’s Parliament Approves Cyber Security Bill

The House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia has approved the Somali Cyber Security Bill following a session held on Monday.

According to parliamentary officials, the bill was passed by an overwhelming majority, with 144 members voting in favor, one member voting against, and no abstentions recorded.

The Cyber Security Bill is aimed at strengthening the protection of Somalia’s information and communication infrastructure. It focuses on preventing cyber attacks, enhancing coordination among national security agencies, and improving the resilience of the country’s digital systems.

Lawmakers said the legislation is an important step toward safeguarding government institutions, businesses, and citizens as Somalia continues to expand its use of digital technologies.
