Africa-Somali-Prime-Minister-Abdiweli-Sheikh-AhmedPrime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed alongside H.E President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud presided over the signing of the Central Regions State formation agreement. This landmark occasion has moved the nation forward in terms of rehabilitation and peace building throughout the region. Delegations from the Regional State of Galmudug, the Administration of Himan & Heeb and the administration of Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jammah attended. Central Regions State will maneuver residents to unite and form an inclusive regional administration.

In addition, the Federal Government of Somalia has appointed a committee of FGS Cabinet members to lead the formation of this administration. The Federal government has held numerous consultative meetings with each side; each party has agreed to the fundamental principles that will be implemented to form an administration for Galgadud and Mudug regions. The need for a cohesive, political strategy that will establish a legitimate governance structure has been greatly desired by the people of Somalia. This structure will be based on the will of people and the Provisional Constitution of the Federal Government of Somalia.

“Today we have taken another step towards peaceful state-building, reconciliation and stability. The will of the Somali people to move forward and rebuild and re-establish their nation will never waver or weaken” H.E Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed said.

All parties have agreed to form an administration for Mudug and Galgadud Regions uniting all Somali clans that live within that region. The administration will represent all clans and work together cohesively to fight against insurgency and ensure lasting peace. In addition, the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity will be fully respected by the Federal Government of Somalia. The Government has taken every step to ensure all parties and the dignity and wellbeing of the Somali citizens residing in that region will be respected and protected.
