SOMALIA: Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur gives his credentials to be the Permanent Representative of UNEP

Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur(Americo) gave his credentials to be the Permanent Representative of UNEP for the Transitional Federal Government of the Somali Republic in Kenya today to Mr. Acim Steiner, Under Secretary General and Executive Director of United Nations Environment Programme.
After giving his credentials, the Somali Ambassador talked about the illegal dumping of toxic waste in Somalia’s coast and its affect on the communities in the coast. He also talked about deforestation and
the charcoal export to neighbouring countries. Mr. Steiner assured the Somali Ambassador that UNEP will assist the Somali Government in Environmental matters.
