The body of former Somalia Police Chief, who passed away in Mogadishu days ago, has been airlifted on Saturday to neighbouring Kenya capital, Nairobi to investigate the cause of his death.

General Mohamed Hassan died on October 30, 2014 after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest. The events surrounding his death stunned many Somalis.

In July, he was appointed as the country’s Police Commissioner and had worked as an army official during the military government led by the former late President Siad Barre.

Somalia Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed appointed a committee of inquiry – all government ministers to investigate circumstances surrounding the death of the former Police Chief.

Further reports claim that several people including a medical doctor who attended to him before his death have been arrested.
