Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently confirmed that Israel accepts the terms of a ceasefire with Hezbollah.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed Israel’s acceptance of a ceasefire with Hezbollah, emphasizing the group’s significant military degradation during recent confrontations.
In a televised address, Netanyahu highlighted Israel’s military achievements, claiming the destruction of Hezbollah’s rocket capabilities, elimination of thousands of fighters, and dismantling of underground infrastructure along the border. He warned that any violation of the agreement would result in the resumption of hostilities.
The Prime Minister justified the ceasefire by citing two primary strategic objectives: concentrating on the Iranian threat and providing an opportunity for military recovery. He also suggested the ceasefire would effectively isolate Hamas.
Hezbollah’s rocket attacks into northern Israel began following the October 7, 2023 Gaza War. The group has consistently maintained that shelling would continue as long as the conflict in Gaza persists.
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati, representing Hezbollah in negotiations, demanded immediate ceasefire implementation and an end to “Israeli aggression.” Earlier on Tuesday, Israel conducted substantial military operations in Beirut, with aircraft alarms reported in multiple Israeli locations.
Netanyahu plans to present the deal to the Israeli government for formal approval, signaling a potential diplomatic shift in the region’s ongoing tensions.
