The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia has finally spoken to the Somali people, after the attack on Hotel Hayat on Friday.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud urged the public to help the government in the fight against al-Shabaab.
Somali people, I know you are tired of mourning. I know that in every terrorist attack you lose your loved ones, so I am asking you to prepare for an unrelenting fight against these extremists and terrorists.

The President’s speech, which lasted for five minutes, did not directly mention the Hayat Hotel attack, except that he used it as an example, and he did not send condolences to the families of those who died.
The president’s pre-recorded speech was broadcast after the meeting of the National Security Committee in Mogadishu on Tuesday.
