The Federal government of Somalia is hosting a high-level meeting on Tuesday in Mogadishu for the Defense Ministers and Military Commanders of regional countries, ahead of Summit for head of states of ‘frontline’ countries – Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.
The meeting is to discuss the completion of operations to liberate areas still occupied by Al-Shabaab militias and to coordinate support and cooperation in anti-terrorism efforts.
Flights to Mogadishu have been suspended and roads closed for two days, causing inconvenience to the people and economy.
President Hassan Sheikh has placed great importance on the fight against terrorist groups and has regained control of many areas previously occupied by Al-Shabaab.
