SOMALIA: Al Shabab responded to the Somali government and warned the armed clans

The Al Shabab group, which suffered losses in recent weeks in the Hiran region, has for the first time responded to the pressure it is facing from the Somali government and the armed clan militias.

Al Shabab spokesman, Ali Dhere said that they are ready for the war announced by the new President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Ali Dhere also sent a warning to the armed clans fighting in central Somalia, urging them not to support the Somali government forces.

Al Shabab has suffered heavy losses in recent weeks in battles with armed clans and federal government forces in Hiran region.

On Monday, the commander of the country’s armed forces, Gen Odawaa Yusuf Rage confirmed that 75 Al-Shabaab were killed in an operation carried out by the army in Yasooman area of Hiran region. A number of prisoners were also captured in the operation.
