Somalia President Condemns Murder of Turkish Official

Hassan-Sheikh-MohamudSomali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has condemned the murder of Turkish airline security Official who was assassinated in Mogadishu on Tuesday by unknown gunmen.

Mr Mohamud conveyed his sincere condolences to the Turkish government, families and colleagues of Saadettin Doğan, whom he said that he came to serve the Somali people.

The President called for the security officials to investigate the assassination and bring the perpetrators to face justice.

It was the latest in a string of attacks in the capital, which most of them was claimed by the Islamist group al-Shabab. But this last assassination on Turkish official, no group has yet claimed the responsibility and nothing is clear about the causes.

Turkey’s involvement in Somalia emerged in 2011 when Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan paid a rare visit to Mogadishu, becoming the first non-African leader to visit the war-torn city for two decades.
