Somalia: Security Officer killed in Mogadishu

Unknown gunmen on Sunday night assassinated a security officer and injured another in the Somali Capital, reports and Officials confirmed.

The Security officer gunned down was identified as Ahmed Sheikh Abdulle and was part of the Presidential Palace security officers.

‘’ He was shot with his colleague while they were getting in to their house, we have arrested several people who are under interrogation,’’ said the commissioner of Karan district Ahmed Yalahow, where the killing took place.

He accused Somali Islamist group al-Shabab for being responsible of the killing.

It’s not the first time a Security officer has been assassinated in Mogadishu.

Since the al-Qaeda-linked militant group was pushed out of the capital, it has carried a number of assassinations and suicide attacks in which it targeted government and security officers.
