Abdirizak Omar stated that his departure was due to disagreements with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on how to address the concerns of Hiiraan’s citizens about the Hirshabelle administration.

“My dismissal was due to differences of opinion on how to address the concerns of the people of Hiiraan regarding the Hirshabelle administration. These concerns have persisted since the formation of Hirshabelle during President Hassan Sheikh’s previous term. At that time, the proposed solution was to designate Buloburde as the capital of the Hirshabelle administration. However, this plan did not materialize, and an agreement was reached to make Jowhar the capital instead,” stated the former Petroleum Minister.

Abdirizak Omar Mohamed emphasized that the concerns of the Hiiraan people had been raised by MP Abdirisaq and noted that these issues had intensified during Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s presidency, despite no resolution being achieved at the time.

In his statement, Abdirizak explained, “The resolution of the issues, which I and the MPs from Hiiraan share, created challenges for the Hirshabelle leaders, the intelligence chief, and President Hassan Sheikh to reach an understanding.”

Based on reports, Minister Abdirizak was a close ally of President Hassan Sheikh and was instrumental in helping him win the election.
