The government of Somalia has said it will send a ship to evacuate its citizens from trouble-torn middle-eastern country Yemen on Thursday.
Spokesman of the Federal government, Ridwan Haji Abdiweli said on his twitter account that the government will send a ship to the port town of Aden soon.
He did not mention when the ship will be dispatched.
More than 100,000 Somali citizens who most of them are refugees are trapped in Yemen violence. While other foreign nationals have been evacuated from the impoverished gulf nation, the federal government has not yet moved to evacuate its citizens despite announcing plans to bring back them home last month.
Since last week, hundreds of Somali refugees started to return home by themselves with small boats. They accused the government of ‘’failing’’ to intervene the situation of the trapped citizens.
Life went from bad to worse for the Somalis living in Yemen after the federal government revealed this week that it is supporting the on-going Saudi-led military offensive against the Houthi rebels who are fighting to takeover the power of the country.
