THE 2015 DJIBOUTI CUP is now over with Guelleh Batal Football Club being crowned the winners of the competition which is the second most-watched sporting event in the country after the national league.
Guelleh Batal FC who finished 3rd in the last season beat their AS Port FC rivals by 2-0 in the hotly-contested match on Fridayafternoon.  The AS Port FC finished 2nd place in the last season.
Friday’s match which was played at the National El-Hadji Hassan Gouled Stadium, attracted more than 30000 spectators, including the president of the nation HE Ismail Omar Guelleh, his prime minister, parliament speaker, ministers, law makers, army chief of staff, police commissioner, president of Djiboutian Football Federation and members of hi executive committee.
President of Djibouti Football Federation, Mr. Souleiman Hassan Waberi, who had the happy duty to welcome the country’s president and other top government officials to the facility, said it was his pleasure that the president of the republic was giving much priority to football.
“Your excellence president of Djibouti, I am extremely happy to welcome you here today on behalf of the country’s football family” Djibouti FA president, Souleiman Hassan Waberi said as he received the president of the republic HE Ismail Omar Guelleh.
President Guelleh, a football-mad leader of Djibouti said during his address at the occasion that his government was committed to encouraging sport in General and in particularly the football which has now become a big business industry in the world.
“Football in Djibouti is hugely growing and as president of the nation, I promise that we will continue to assist them. I commend the president of the Djiboutian football Federation for his dedication for football development” president of the republic of Djibouti HE Ismail Omar Guelleh said during his address at the conclusion ceremony of the Djibouti Cup on Friday.

The winners of the cup, Guelleh Batal FC were presented the trophy plus One million Djiboutian Francs as prize money, while the AS Port received 500000 Djiboutian Francs
