The launch of the new Air Arabia service is expected to provide greater convenience for residents and businesses in Puntland, particularly those seeking direct access to and from Sharjah. The flight is anticipated to streamline travel and foster business connections between the two regions, making it easier for passengers to engage in commercial and cultural exchanges.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Mohamed Barri Shire, the First Deputy Speaker of the Puntland Parliament, and Abdullahi Bille Nuur, the Minister of Civil Aviation and Airports in Puntland. Also present were members of the Puntland Cabinet, lawmakers, local elders, and key business leaders from Bosaso and the broader Bari region.

Minister Abdullahi Bille Nuur, speaking at the event, expressed that the introduction of the direct flight represents a major achievement for Puntland, attributed to ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. He emphasized that improving airport infrastructure and increasing international connections are central to the region’s development.

“This direct flight is an essential step in facilitating smoother travel and strengthening the regional economy,” said Minister Nuur. “It will also play a pivotal role in enhancing Puntland’s position on the global stage.”

In his remarks, Mohamed Alebri, Vice President of Terminals Holding Company, also highlighted the importance of the collaboration between Puntland and the UAE. He noted that the new flight route is designed to address the growing demands of Puntland’s business community and provide greater access for those traveling between the two regions.

Previously, Air Arabia operated flights to Hargeisa, and with the addition of the Sharjah-Bosaso route, the airline is now offering round-trip tickets starting at under $600. The flights will operate every Tuesday.
