Puntland President Saed Abdullahi Deni carried out a major reshuffle in the Puntland Maritime Police Force as part of efforts to boost security.
The changes saw the president appoint Col. Abdirahman Mohamed Jama as the new Commander of PMPF, replacing Admiral Abdirizak Farah Dirie.
The president also appointed Abdirabbi Abdisamad Mohamed as the new director of PMPF.
President Deni pledged that his administration was determined to improve the security situation in the region, with threats coming from the al-Qaeda-linked extremists, and illigal fishing
The PMPF is a professional, locally-recruited coastal police force in the Puntland State of Somalia. The Puntland Maritime Police Force has been supported by the United Arab Emirates since its formation in 2010.
