Yemen and Puntland formed a new bond on Sunday as the Yemeni government opened a new consulate in the commercial hub city of Bossaso.
Puntland President Abdiweli Mohammed Ali and the Yemen ambassador to Somalia Mr Mansur Ali Rayash attended a ceremony organized to mark the opening of the Consulate.
Speaking at the ceremony, Yemen ambassador thanked the government of the Puntland state and its people for receiving the Yemeni citizens who escaped to the region from the violence that erupted in their country.
He appealed to the International Community for aid to the Yemeni nationals currently in Puntland who are numbered up to 300.
Puntland President Abdiweli Gaas said that his state was ready to welcome the Yemeni refugees. He urged the sides fighting in Yemen to find a solution to the conflict that has cost human lives and property destruction.
Yemen and Puntland hope the consulate will foster stronger business ties, strengthening both economies in the nearby future.
