nicholasThe United Nations Special Representative to Somalia, Nicholas Kay, has released a message to extend his best wishes to the Somali People on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

“Ramadan is a time for families and communities to share the happiness of gathering together for iftar and prayers. It is a time for thoughtful reflection, reconciliation and to remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves.’’

‘’We are reminded that peace, equality and compassion bind us together and are far stronger than anything that divides us. In this spirit I wish all Somali people and their families a peaceful and blessed month. Ramadan Kareem! ” Mr Kay in a statement.

Muslims around the world will begin the annual month-long fast on Sunday, during which they refrain from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual relations from sunrise to sundown.
