Somalia Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke held talks with his Italian counterpart Matteo Renzi upon arriving in Italy on Tuesday, the first stop in a tour that will include visits to other European countries.
The two sides discussed the ways to reinforce Somalia-Italy ties and cooperation. They also talked about security cooperation.
Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid updated his counterpart on the recent development in the country on areas of security, establishment of regional states, reconciliation, Good governance and review of the provisional constitution.
For his part the Italian Prime Minister pledged his country stands with Somalia, stressing that the Italian government will help Somalia to restore its stability and economic strength.
Somalia Prime Minister is accompanied by several minister including Internal Security and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Italy, which once colonised some parts of Somalia, is one of the European nations that provide significant support to the Federal government.
