Somalia’s Federal cabinet approved the appointment of six new ambassadors proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Horseed Media.
The new ambassadors, which their duty stations have not been revealed due to unknown reasons, were unanimously approved in the weekly cabinet meeting held in Mogadishu on Thursday.
The appointments are yet to be formalized with a decree of the President. The appointments will also not be final until they are formally approved by the host countries concerned.
According to sources, the appointment of the new ambassadors caused a row between Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud and Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid months ago.
The new ambassadors are:
- Abdirahman Duale Bayle
- Ali Shariif Ahmed
- Abukar Abdi Osman
- Abdirahman Sheikh Isse
- Fakaru-diin Mohamed
- Mohamed Hassan Abdi
The approval of the new ambassadors comes at a time Prime Minister Sharmarke and his deputy Mohamed Omar Arte are out of the country.
