More than 110 of Somali clan elders are meeting in the historical city of Gardo in Puntland State, Somalia.
The delegations from Somali clans in Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya are attending the three-day summit organized by King Burhan Musa, the 34th king of Daarood kingdom.
It is the first such gathering for the Somali traditional leaders since the start of the Somali civil war in 1991.
Puntland President Abdiweli Ali and leaders from the Federal government of Somalia, who attended the opening ceremony called for the Somali clan leaders to unite their voices and to help initiate peace and reconciliation.
